  1. Excavator and Bobcat staged at the Oakridge lot.
    Week 1

    The work begins.

    April 29. The crew brought equipment in early. By afternoon the dirt was moving. The footprint of the home is now visible from the access road. What will be foundation in three weeks is right now a set of mounds and ledges. A stream and waterfall will move through these woods in time. For now the deer have it to themselves.

  2. Aerial of the Oakridge foundation hole, footings trenched.
    Week 2

    Foundation dug, footings prepared.

    May 1. The pad is graded, footings trenched. Driveway cut, materials staged for the foundation crew next week. The shape of the house is in the dirt now, before it ever rises. Standing at the edge of the trench, you can already feel where the front door will sit.

  3. Cured foundation walls at Oakridge, forms stripped.
    Week 3

    Foundation walls, cured.

    May 7. The walls cured this week. The home is shaped for single-level living, with a safe room built in instead of a basement. Walking the perimeter, the rooms have an outline you can step into. The slab comes next.
